Help yourself to these 10 Scratch lessons which I'm using already with my 15 year olds. The sequence goes something like this:
- description of Scratch and comparisons with Logo and Flash
- several drawing exercises
- many open-ended exercises, mostly game-like (car racer, puzzle, etc) and also music-oriented or edutainment-oriented
- links to selected Scratch projects elsewhere, including projects at scratch.mit.edu, learnscratch.org and redware.com
In some cases partially-completed Scratch projects can be downloaded from my site. The sequence includes a video or two, very suitable for classroom use in the sense that audio is not required. The projects are designed for classroom use - most students would not be able to complete them using my site alone - they would also need the help of their teacher.
Enjoy!
Really good work!
Thanks for the link.
Those are great lessons - I had students do a version of the lander and the car, but this is more polished and they would learn more. But tetris is just too addictive (just kidding). If you are thinking about teaching students scratch this site is a great place to start.
Thanks so much for sharing this! Have you already tried the entire sequence with your group? (Or is it an experiment-in-progress?)
Thanks again,
K
