Integrating everyday images with Scratch

Encourage your students to take photographs for Scratch projects with their mobile phones. To see the world through the lens of a camera and discover the world around them.
Creative Writing with Scratch - Integrating everyday images with Scratch

In my work with Scratch, I have discovered much joy in taking photographs with my mobile phone and using them either as sprites or backdrops.

I find that this method helps me to see things very differently:
  • I have learnt to appreciate fine detail in carpets, designs, buildings, nature, etc
  • I have learnt that I can do a whole series on crosses, flowers, and the list goes on.
Do encourage your students to take photographs of things that they see or notice which seem special to them and use them in their Scratch projects. Who knows, they may discover something special in themselves too?

You can start with a photo tour of their neighbourhood or school. The projects below feature photographs taken with mobile phones. Enjoy! : )
