Scratch Educator Show & Tell Videos

On Sunday, January 23, 2011, we hosted a Creative Computing Reunion for all the educators who attended CS4HS workshops in 2009 and 2010, as well as their guests and colleagues. CS4HS is a summer workshop for middle-school and high-school teachers organized by the MIT Media Lab, in collaboration with Google's CS4HS initiative.

One part of the reunion was an educator Show & Tell, where participants shared examples of how they are using Scratch in their practices, followed by Q&A.
 

Laura Blankenship shared games that were created in her 8th grade technology class.


 

Mary Beth Bergh showed some projects from her Scratch Club, which meets informally at lunch time.

 

Anne Marie Wyman demonstrated animated stories and a pong game built by middle school students.


 

Linda Redding and Vicki Wright talked about how they helped each other by working collaboratively and leveraging student experience.


 

Roberta Sarnacki explained her plan for hosting a district-wide Scratch Day.


 

Laura Webber shared projects created by 9th grade girls in her AP Computer Science course.


 

Kathy Perry showed a project that she made to support 5th grade AIS (Academic Intervention Services) students’ understandings of fractions.


 

Megan Haddadi described her experiences with the Scratch website, having students share projects online and engage in remixing.


 

Diane Pierce demonstrated Rayure, a virtual PicoBoard interface created by her son.


 

Claire Caine shared her lesson plan for music class, designed to accommodate varied programming skills.
