I made a Dutch version of the lesson. It can be found here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/137706102/De-krab-in-het-doolhof-Scratch-les
The result can be found here: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/OBSDeOversteek/3287319
Problem was with mine was with the three steps the dot overshot the maze and because there was no yellow brick road it just sat there. I'm glad it works for you. Possibly your maze is edge to edge?
Good guide/lesson. I made a 'Dutch version' of the maze: http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/PaulKoning/3226328 When I've got time I will try to translate this guide to Dutch. I think my students will like it!
Note:
There was no need for taking the three steps when changing direction. The crab just did not get stuck.
